I know it's a silent film, but there should be some form of sound! No music, no sound file attached. Pity. My dad was really looking forward to this.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it. I see you also fixed the Buster Keaton Shorts 2. Also, I do some encoding myself, so I did check using VDub to see if there was an audio stream attached. Would never waste time over codec issues, etc. My Dad's going to have a very happy 81st birthday.

Well it was my bad - apparently it was brought to my attention, fixed for the google stream cut, but I dropped the ball on updating the rest :( Thanx for pointing this out!

OVERALL: Some greatness and some mediocrity from the genius comic mind that was Buster Keaton. Bear in mind that mediocrity from a great is still better than most. Beatles For Sale crushes the best Dave Clark 5, you know? THE BLACKSMITH(***)- A rather ho-hum offering from Keaton. If I recall from his biography, he wasn't too fond of it, either. A few good bits are here, but they were put to better use in his other works. THE BOAT(****)- Buster builds a boat (inside his house) as a new home for his family. (I actually knew a guy who built a boat in his basement and then realized he couldn't get it out...don't ask) The boat, named the Damfino, and the family's sailing provide many good laughs. THE PALEFACE (***1/2)- A fun two reeler. A white oil man tries to steal Native land. Buster is caught in the middle. There are some great stunts in this one. DAYDREAMS (***1/2)- Buster tells his sweetheart he will go to the city and make something of himself to earn her hand, or he will return and shoot himself. His letters home embellish his professional successes. We see her envisioning of his jobs and then the realities. This was a lost film. It has been restored with stills and added intertitles.

The current file is a different line up to what is advertised and has been commented on. Here we have THE BLACKSMITH (1922), THE BOAT (1921), the first minute and a half of THE PALEFACE, THE PLAYHOUSE (1921), THE BALLOONATIC (1923), MY WIFE'S RELATIONS (1922) and THE ELECTRIC HOUSE (1922). A total run time of 2h 7mins. The video is by and large good, and the accompanying music is appropriate to the films. Buster. Keaton. Silent. Comedy. Genius. *****
